En 2011 celebramos el 50º aniversario del primer vuelo humano al espacio. El 12 de abril de 1961 el hombre salió por primera vez de su cuna terrestre y dio su primer paso —el primer gran paso para la humanidad— en el Cosmos. Yuri Alexéievich Gagarin, ciudadano soviético a bordo de la nave Vostok 1, se convirtió así en el primer ser humano que pudo contemplar y disfrutar de una visión global de nuestro planeta azul.
A lo largo de 2011 —y especialmente el día 12 de abril— se conmemora en todo el mundo este evento que supuso, indudablemente, un antes y un después en la historia de la humanidad. El sitio web 'El año de Yuri Gagarin' es una iniciativa colectiva que forma parte de la celebración internacional del medio siglo del inicio de la Era Espacial humana y está dirigido especialmente a la blogosfera panhispánica, blogs o webs de los cinco continentes editados en nuestro idioma global.

In 2011 we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first human flight to the space. In April 12, 1961 the mankind left for the first time its terrestrial cradle and took the first great step for the mankind in the Cosmos. Yuri Alexeievich Gagarin, Soviet citizen on board the ship Vostok 1, thus became the first human who could contemplate and enjoy a global vision of our blue planet.
Throughout 2011 - and especially in April 12- anywhere in the world we will conmemorate this event that supposed, doubtlessly, before and later in the history of the humanity.
